The popularity of beard and mustache competitions has increased since the release of Whisker Wars on IFC. About to launch it’s second season, Whisker Wars has brought competitive bearding to the attention of the general public who have embraced the bearding community with great enthusiasm.
Yet, before Whisker Wars even premiered, our inaugural event sold out within 15 minutes of the doors opening and had a wait-list of over 150 people, of which more than three-fourths were turned away.
To address the increased interest in competitive bearding and the overwhelming success of the 2011 event, The Los Angeles Beard and Mustache Competition has moved to a venue that is almost 500% larger: The historic Belasco Theater in Downtown Los Angeles.
With a more proactive promotional plan in place that leverages social media, targeted blogger outreach, various online event calendars, and an active street-team to promote the competition around town, we anticipate a packed house at the 2012 edition of our annual competition.
