Paul Beisser is an L.A. native, he was born in Van Nuys and grew up in the SFV.  He’s been a Beardsmith for over forty years ,long before it became fashionable. He competed in six competitions in two years with two firsts, two seconds, and a third. His first competition was the 2009 at the WBMC in Alaska where he took first place in Natural Goatee and his last competition was at the Placer County fair where he won Freestyle and Overall. He thought it was time to give back by of judging the First Annual Los Angeles Beard and Mustache Competition in 2011.   When asked why he’s had a beard all these years he explained,  “when I was 20 years old I was trimming my beard and messed it up so bad that I ended up cutting it off.  The next day I stopped by my parents house. Upon seeing my clean shaven face my mother said in all seriousness ‘why did you shave your beard off?’ at that point I thought my face is one that not even a mother could love. I’ve had a beard almost all the time since then.”
