Julie Slater came into the beard fold through music.  After DJing for ten years following Howard Stern at Krock in NYC, she now does Afternoons at 100.3 The Sound in Los Angeles where she spins album tracks from great beards: Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, George Harrison and more. On Saturday nights she spins new music from beards like Ray Lamontagne, Iron and Wine and Band of Horses during her show Out on a Limb on 88.5 KCSN.  Music lead her to an epiphany – what about capturing beards from all around LA and beyond?  She then founded www.beardoftheday.com.  To Slater, a beard is an instant confidence; a warmth; a sincerity. She thinks they’re pretty damned sexy, too.  She is proud to once again judge at this year’s LA Beard and Mustache competition.  Beard on!
