Kurt loves bourbon.
Hannah loves a good theme party…and bourbon.
So, for Kurt’s birthday, Hannah designed an entire dinner party menu
around one excellent ingredient: Bourbon.
Bourbon vinaigrette on the salad, bourbon glazed corn on the cob,
bourbon ice cream pie…but the big hit of the night was the thick
delicious bourbon BBQ sauce coating the wings.
Calls came in the next day reminiscing over a great night, all with
one common denominator: the BBQ sauce.  More dinner parties and summer
barbecues, along with holiday shipments to friends and family now
hooked on the goods solidified that there was a need. A need for
spicy sweet tomato based sauce, so real you can see the onions through the jar,  with a kick of hot and the smooth finish of fine bourbon.

You can leave your “member’s only” jacket at home, but be sure you wear your LABMC member pin on event day for access to special areas of the venue! People will be checking to make sure you are “eligible” to access these areas, so please remember to represent our club and wear your pin!

We are very thankful to have Mary Lou Sandler back at the Los Angeles Beard and Mustache Competition in 2012! Mary Lou Sandler (previously known as Mary L. Carter) was the photographer responsible for our amazing winner portraits and the author/photographer of the Beard Book.

This year, Mary will be photographing all of the contestants in our greenroom before they compete. These photos will be available for download after competition and are an additional item competitors can have to commemorate their experience at the 2012 Los Angeles Beard and Mustache Competition!

Howdy folks! Matt Lee here, fellow beardsmen with Nothing Routine. What we have here is the first edition of many things to come in the form of collaboration from Nothing Routine. This first edition is a collaboration between a photographer, a motorcycle enthusiast, and a high class media designer. This shot was taken in the summer of 2011 in Santa Barbara while my good friend and photographer Nate Lubben came to visit while I was living there. Looks like fun doesn’t it?! As we were just messing around taking some pictures and enjoying the summer time living, we snagged this photo riding around in front of the house. Ideas came to brewing as to somehow get this image out there. Stickers? Interweb? T- shirts! After making some phone calls, I met Joe Beraldo with Beware of the Humans. The guy is legit. He helped me create Nothing Routine, and print this rad picture onto a t-shirt for you all to enjoy. I started with a small print quantity of 40 and have sold most of what was made just through co-workers and friends.

With the popularity of the logo which is on the back of #1, I decided to throw it big on the front.

Now the time has come for you to get yours! At the 2nd Annual Los Angeles Beard and Moustache Competition! On June 24th 2012, I will be at the Belasco Theatre in downtown LA vending these pieces of artillery for a mere $15… 15 DOLL HAIRS! (I promise, if you bring me 15 doll hairs, I will barter you a t-shirt).. But since cash rules everything, I’ll be accepting that as well :]

But! Wait a second… If you’re lucky, I will also be donating a few shirts to the raffle being held at the event! NOTHING ROUTINE

We’re very excited to announce that Don Juan y Los Blancos will be playing during half time/dinner intermission of the competition! Here’s a little taste of what they have cookin’

Al Leong , aka Al ‘Ka Bong’, is an American stuntman and actor. Characterised by impressive martial arts skills, long wavy hair, and a prominent Fu Manchu moustache, he has had a number of small but memorable roles as the token long-haired Asian henchman in popular action films, that usually ended in his character’s death. Among action movie fans Leong has a cult following. His credits include Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, Joshua Tree, Big Trouble in Little China,The Scorpion King, and a recurring role on the first season of the TV series 24. He also portrayed an out-of-time Genghis Khan in the comedy Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure.

Elvis Strange grew up a small forlorn homeless child with aspirations of becoming an astronaut and a President one day. Unfortunately things have not worked out quite that well yet. Oh wait, sorry, I was thinking about someone else anyways!

I’m really happy about coming back and judging the LA Beard and Mustache competition for the second time.  Last year had some great competitors and judging it was a lot harder than I thought it would be.  They asked me to tell you something about me, which is one of the things I do better than anybody.

I made my way up to LA in the late 90′s and somehow ended up working on a film set. Here I found my calling. At this point I changed careers and jumped feet first into the film industry. I have been making my living as a Production Designer or Art Director in the entertainment industry ever since. This basically means I design and create the look and sets of films, tv shows, commercials, music videos and still shoots. I have been doing this for about 10 years and absolutely love it.

Generally I don’t have a lot of free time, but when I do I am usually writing or playing music, and like a stripper to meth, tattoos are my close friend. Getting tattooed is how I relax and relieve stress after a job.  Now I wouldn’t say I am a party animal, I just live like a rock star. Underneath it all I am pretty much just a normal cat, I like to consider myself the responsible freak. I am comfortable in my own skin and I just like being me and looking the way I do. I enjoy being balls out with everything I do. Here I am, this is me, if you like it fine, if you don’t, whatever!
